Deb has been an elementary school teacher in public and independent schools for more than 19 years. She grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Montana State University in Bozeman. Deb began her teaching career in Forest Grove, Oregon and then spent several years teaching various grade levels in Idaho. Three of those years were spent in a rural one-room school encompassing grades one through four. Prior to joining Cascades Academy in 2003, Deb taught 4th grade at Sunriver Preparatory School in Bend for six years. She encourages her students to develop their independence both intellectually and behaviorally. Deb is particularly proud of her students' success at integrating academic skills with experiential learning as reflected in their efforts with culminating events like traveling school and other field trips. Deb's career has also included the ski industry. She is a fully certified Level III ski instructor and teaches at Mt. Bachelor. Deb and her family love the outdoors and all the recreational advantages Central Oregon offers.
