In 2003, Lea arrived at Cascades Academy with three years of teaching in the elementary schools in Bend with a focus as a science specialist. She earned her Masters of Teaching at Eastern Oregon University in 2000 and had earned her Bachelor's degree at the University of Vermont with a double major in Geography and Economics. Having attended Kingswood-Oxford, a private independent school in Connecticut, she is excited to be working in a small educational environment with the opportunity to provide similar hands-on experiences that were given to her. Before her teaching career, Lea was the Financial Development Director for the Mt. Bachelor Ski Education Foundation where she coordinated a multitude of fundraising events and ski races. She has been active with youth since moving to Bend, including coaching cross-country skiing in the Bend Kid's Ski League and joining the board of Working Wonders, Bend's new children's museum. She is married to another outdoor enthusiast and is constantly taking advantage of the opportunities in Central Oregon with her daughter Denali. Her family loves to cross-country ski, alpine ski, play tennis, run, bike, and basically do anything outside.
