6th Grade Math and High School English |
|
Currently Tim juggles teaching responsibilities in three academic disciplines. While he won't publicly admit a bias among math, history, geography, and English, he can often be found pouring over maps in search of new adventures in which to engage family, friends and students alike. One such manifestation of the quest for places unique and adventurous takes the form of Tim's favorite school-related activity - Traveling School. Traveling School destinations are just as likely to include geographically diverse and cryptic destinations such as the Black Canyon, the Lost Coast and Bodie as well as the more urbane destinations such as Washington D.C., 3COM Park and the Presidio.
Tim comes by these varied tastes through a diverse employment background that includes 16 years of classroom teaching coupled with experiences as a ski instructor, short order cook, USFS firefighter, cartographer, and Wyoming ranch hand. In his tenure as classroom teacher, Tim also brings to Cascades Academy a diversity of experience including that soaked up as an elementary teacher in a large urban school district in California and as a physical education instructor and three-sport coach at the small, private American Community School in Hillingdon, England. Most recently he taught history, geography and math at Sunriver Preparatory School in Bend. Tim received his B.A. in Education from the University of California, Sacramento and later an M.A. in Geography from the University of Wyoming. Beyond teaching, Tim juggles a myriad other interests from cycling, climbing, skiing, fly-fishing and hunting to reading, chess and regularly failing to come up with an even remotely funny New Yorker cartoon caption.
Tim and his wife Jenny share their straw house in Bend with their daughters Chloe and Betsy and two English Setters named Beethoven and Henry, as well as the newest addition, a Golden Retriever puppy named Casey.
