Tree Planting at Shevlin Park
"It's arbor week and this morning a class from Cascades Academy went out to Shevlin Park to plant some trees. They're planting seedlings in a burn at the park that happened twenty five years ago. Each seedling is about two years old and a plastic protective netting is used to keep deer from eating the tree as it develops. The students have been learning about vegetation all week and now they get to apply what they've learned.
Outdoor Program Coordinator for Bend Park and Rec, Eric Denzler, says, "What they're learning in the classroom has a connection and they're planting trees and they can look forward to seeing these trees in the years to come. And they can come back later maybe later when they're parents with their kids and say I helped plant this forest here."

Cascades Academy Prepares to Build New Campus
Cascades Academy has secured 21-acres of land near Tumalo State Park in preparation to build a new campus. The school hired Portland based Hennebery Eddy Architects to design the school and fulfill the vision of a beautiful, functional campus nestled in the outdoors. Together with a small team of parents and staff, Henneberry Eddy completed the initial design phases as well as the master site plan. Cascades Academy will begin a capital campaign to fund the building project in the near future.
