Cascades Academy's New Campus
The future home of Cascades Academy will be a beautiful 21-acre piece of land in Bend adjacent to Tumalo State Park. The sustainably-designed building will provide an inspirational learning environment and include two classroom wings, a versatile Commons area, gymnasium, as well as modern science, art, music, library, and technology facilities. The dramatic natural features of the property offer beautiful outdoor classrooms. With the Deschutes River and Tumalo State Park within easy walking distance, the site is ideal for the school's experiential learning programs. In essence, the new campus will provide a one-of-a-kind learning environment for Central Oregon students.
"Building Excellence" Capital Campaign
Matching Gift from the James and Kelly Young Family Foundation
Thanks to the generosity of The James and Kelly Young Family Foundation, we have received a matching gift of $2 million for the "Building Excellence" capital campaign.
In pledging their support for the "Building Excellence" campaign, grandparents James and Kelly Young shared, "We're pleased to be able to make this gift to Cascades Academy to build its new campus. This exceptional school is much more than a place where children come to learn: it is a family. Small classes allow the teachers to really get to know the students and to nurture each individual's talents and opportunities for growth. Engaged in what they are learning and surrounded by others who are equally engaged, students at Cascades Academy become critical thinkers and life-long learners. We couldn't be happier to contribute to the future of such an important and valuable asset to Bend."
We feel incredibly fortunate to have received this gift from the James and Kelly Young Family Foundation. With their support, we are now able to begin the next phase of our efforts: raising the additional $2 million in matching contributions. This pledge has already inspired other donors to give over $500,000 to the $2 million matching fund. Although we still have hard work ahead of us before we can put a shovel in the ground, we are well on our way to realizing our vision. We hope to be able to complete construction by the fall of 2013.

We will host a "Building Excellence" Open House on Thursday, January 19 at 5:30pm at our current school for anyone who is interested in learning more about the project.
