Cascades Academy Independent School PK-12

Ski & Snowboard Program

It can be difficult to be active with students outside in mid-winter in chilly Central Oregon, but Cascades Academy's ski and snowboard program promotes a healthy active lifestyle even in cold temperatures! Between January and March, students and faculty drive up to Mt. Bachelor every Thursday or Friday for skiing or snowboarding as part of our winter PE program. All students take ability appropriate lessons, after which they may ski and ride in small groups. New skiers and boarders start with us each year, and the Mt. Bachelor staff does a wonderful job of introducing the students to the mountain.

The Lower School (K-5) participates in the ski/snowboard program for 5 weeks in January-February. Students are dropped off at the Mt. Bachelor park and ride in the morning and picked up there in the afternoon following a full day at the mountain.

The Middle and Upper Schools (6-12) participate in the program every week from January through Spring Break (mid-March). These students spend the morning at school and then board the buses and head to the mountain mid-day for a full afternoon of skiing/snowboarding. They return to campus for pick up between 4:30 and 5pm.
