Summer Outdoor Leadership Adventures
Summer 2026 Registration Opens Sunday, March 1 at 8 AM

Summer Outdoor Leadership (SOL) Adventures is a transformative summer program that combines outdoor adventure, leadership development, and environmental stewardship. Designed for students in grades 6th-10th, local experts and certified teachers empower young leaders through hands-on experiences in nature, technical skill-building, and community action projects. Whether progressing through the full program offerings or starting at any level, students will develop confidence, collaboration skills, and a deeper understanding of their role in positively impacting their communities and the environment.

Sample itineraries below
Explorers (Rising 6th Graders): June 22-26 & July 6-10
Our Explorers begin by developing foundational outdoor skills, teamwork, and a sense of place in the natural world. Through adventure-based learning, they build confidence, discover their strengths, and form lasting connections with their peers.
Navigators (Rising 7/8th Graders): June 22-26 & July 6-10
Navigators deepen their leadership skills and environmental literacy. They take on more responsibility in group decision-making, develop resilience through outdoor challenges, and practice leadership in real-world settings while learning about conservation and sustainability. This program includes an overnight camping trip.
Changemakers (Rising 9/10th Graders): July 13-19
Changemakers is a seven-day expedition built for students ready to take on more responsibility, more independence, and more complex challenges. This year, the program centers on water issues in Oregon through a multi-day canoe journey in Northeast Oregon. Students learn practical river travel skills, engage with place-based environmental questions, and practice leadership in situations that require planning, communication, and follow-through.
This program includes six nights of camping and a 45-mile canoe expedition on the Grande Ronde River.
