Cascades Academy Independent School PK-12

After School Classes

Cascades Academy aims to provide enriching after school experiences for students of all ages. Our after school classes follow a fall, winter, and spring schedule and are hosted by teachers from our school and members from our greater community. With this new program design, our desire is to create after school classes that are enriching for students, have an intentional start to finish, and a tangible outcome. We believe that the programs that we offer to our school community will allow our students to learn new skills or enhance their skill sets and come together with their peers and leaders in a positive social and learning environment.

Each program has a fixed length of time and cost that has been determined by the supplies and instruction for the specific activity. Several of our traditional after school activities are listed below as a part of our program offerings, and you will find several new programs added to this list as well.

At the end of the school day, your student will be provided a short recess and snack. All programs run from 3:30-4:30pm, Monday through Thursday, unless otherwise noted. The cost of each program includes materials and snacks. If you require additional care from 4:30-5:30pm, please sign your student up for After School Care in addition to the class of your choice. The cost to drop in to the extended day after school care is $10.

For any questions regarding after school classes or scholarship opportunities, please contact the Auxiliary Program Director Colette Boylan at boylan@cascadesacademy.org.

Thursday

Children's Kundalini Yoga
Class Leader: Corry Bolz
Program Dates: January 11th - February 8th
Length of Class: 5 Weeks
Ages: Kindergarten through Second Grade
Cost: $85
Kundalini yoga for kids is a perfect way to teach children awareness, while at the same time balancing them emotionally and physically. This gives the children greater self confidence, teaches them how to be more tolerant and creative and let them be more satisfied and happy. In this children’s yoga class we "play“ yoga with the help of telling fantasy stories to practice asanas and postures. Students meditate in an easy and light way to bring our focus from "outside“ to "inside“. The kids also learn to sing mantras and quickly learn how to focus and visualize.

The teacher, Corry Bolz, recently moved to Sisters about a year ago, and she has studied and practiced yoga for many years. She also earned a special diploma for teaching yoga to children and is certified to teach Kundalini yoga for both children and adults.
