Pronouns in Our Email Signatures
You may have noticed that some of our faculty and staff include pronouns in their email signatures. If you are curious to know more, here is some information:
Cascades Academy is working to make our school and our spaces more inclusive and affirming for everybody. We want everyone to feel comfortable being themselves and valued for their own unique identity.
Gender pronouns (such as she/her/hers) are words that an individual would like others to use when talking to or about them. Some people identify outside of male and female genders. Pronouns such as they/them/theirs allow individuals to use pronouns they feel fit with their identities.
You can't always tell what someone's gender pronouns are by looking at a person. Proactively sharing pronouns in our email signatures signals our commitment to equality and inclusivity in our workplace, allowing everyone to share information about their identity and preventing assumptions that may or may not be correct. This is one way to help create a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all.
Cascades Academy Diversity Statement
