Lunch Program

Cascades Academy's lunch program is unique in our community. We offer hot lunch and milk for purchase five days per week. Sign-up and online payment occurs three times a year: in August for September-December, in December for January-March, and in March for April-June.

We are proud to partner with local restaurants to offer meals that incorporate many organic fruits and vegetables, high quality proteins, and whole grains. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available every day. Fresh, in-season fruit is served daily and is sourced from area retailers who work with us to find the most local or closest suppliers of our produce. We strive to provide the healthiest fruit and vegetable options available and monitor the Environmental Working Group's "Dirty Dozen" and "Clean Fifteen" produce lists to ensure our selections are thoughtfully made. Before Thanksgiving Break, the Fourth and Fifth Grade classes challenged their fellow students to join them in making one day per week a "veggie day". We strive to ensure the vegetarian and vegan offerings for this term are interesting and accessible to all tastes.

In keeping with Cascades Academy's commitment to environmental sustainability, our lunches are served on re-useable plates with stainless steel silverware and cups. Our students are encouraged to recycle their garbage, and we donate our food waste to local farms. Volunteers from the Cascades Academy community staff the kitchen and help set-up, serve, and wash dishes, often alongside student volunteers.

In order to ensure your student is happy with their lunch selection, we are open to changes to orders for the first full week of the new term, allowing you to change quantities and add or eliminate choices.

Please note that in accordance with licensing requirements for our pre-kindergarten program, we are unable to extend our lunch program offerings to our pre-k students. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes.

Fruit and Veggie Salad Bar

Our fruit and veggie salad bar rounds out every purchased lunch and includes a variety of favorite organic vegetables, salad greens, hummus, cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs, and a daily fruit or two! Students can take advantage of the salad bar in one of two ways:

  • A visit to the salad bar is included with every daily hot lunch offering Monday-Friday. It is included in the price of the meal.
  • Students can choose "Salad Bar Only" as on option to create their own entree-size salad.

Comfort Food Monday from Parrilla Grill

  • Fresh Draper Valley chicken breast strips coated in an extra crunchy gluten-free crust!
  • Rosemary roasted tri-color potatoes along-side with your choice of barbeque or honey mustard dipping sauces.
  • Choose from 2 or 4 pieces.
  • Vegan option:
    • Hot Southwestern Wrap with black beans, rice, spinach, pico de gallo and guacamole
  • Vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free option

Baja Burrito Bowl Tuesday from Taco del Mar

Taco del Mar is bringing a fresh option to Tuesdays!

  • Start with mildly seasoned Spanish Rice
  • Add your choice of vegan black or refried beans
  • Top with shredded chicken or plant-based Beyond Meat® Beyond Beef® Feisty Crumbles
  • Shredded Cheddar or dairy-free cheese
  • Finish it off with house-made organic pico de gallo and organic guacamole - made especially for Cascades Academy!
  • Vegetarian, gluten-free, dairy-free option

Pizza Wednesday from Pizza Mondo

Please note: slices are the standard Pizza Mondo size - an 18" pizza is sliced into 8 pieces. Please keep this in mind while ordering. Smaller appetites/younger students typically eat 1 slice, while older students may need 2.

  • Choice of 1 or 2 standard slices of Pizza Mondo pizza:
    • Cheese
    • Organic, mild turkey sausage locally made at Newport Avenue Market
    • Garden Vegetable
    • Vegan cheese/Gluten-free crust* This option is offered as a single serving.
  • Vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free option

Penne and Marinara Thursday from Parrilla Grill

Another offering made just for Cascades Academy!

  • A generous portion of whole grain pasta* with a hearty house-made tomato-basil marinara (gluten-free pasta on request)
  • Dairy Free/Vegan option: Hot wrap with rice, spinach, seasonal vegetable medley and house-made chimichurri sauce
  • Vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and gluten-free option
  • *The pasta does contain traces of egg, so is not considered vegan or egg-free.

Friday Burger Sliders from Parrilla Grill

Delicious mini sandwiches are sure to satisfy appetites of all sizes!

  • Choose from 1, 2, or 3 sliders on a soft Hawaiian roll
    • Grass-fed beef with toppings on the side
    • Beyond Beef® with toppings on the side
    • Toppings include Tillamook Cheddar, pickle slices, ketchup and mustard - add more from the salad bar!

  • Add a side of crispy, tri-color organic potato chips
  • Gluten-free rolls and dairy-free cheese available.
  • Vegetarian and gluten-free option

Milk from Eberhard's Dairy

  • 2%, local Eberhard's milk
  • rBST/rBGH free
